SOTA Tutoring ("we", "us") is a tutoring service based in North Vancouver, British Columbia. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
What we collect
- When you send us a message: your name, email address, your child's grade, and anything you write in the message.
- When you book a call: the details you enter in our booking calendar, usually your name, email and the time you choose.
- Basic technical information: when you visit, your browser sends us details such as your IP address, device and browser type. We may also use analytics and advertising tools (for example Meta Pixel or Google Analytics) to see how visitors use this page and whether our ads are working. These tools may use cookies or similar technologies.
Why we collect it
- To reply to your message and book your free intro call.
- To understand what your child needs and match them with the right tutor.
- To keep in touch about tutoring.
- To improve this website and our advertising.
We do not sell your personal information.
Your consent
By sending us a message or booking a call, you agree to us collecting and using your information for the purposes above. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us. If you do, we may no longer be able to respond to your request.
Who we share it with
We use service providers to run this website and our booking and contact tools: our contact form provider (Formspree), our booking calendar (Calendly), our website host, Google (which supplies the fonts used on this page), and any analytics or advertising providers listed above. They may only use your information to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Some of these providers are based in, or store data in, the United States or other countries. Your information may therefore be stored or processed outside Canada, where it may be accessible to authorities under that country's laws.
Children
This website is for parents and guardians. The contact form asks only for your child's grade so we can suggest the right support. If you would like to share more about your child's needs, you are welcome to do that on a call. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through this website.
Testimonials
The comments and messages shown in the testimonials section come from families we have worked with. Profile photos and children's names are blurred. If you appear in one and would like it changed or removed, contact us and we will take it down promptly.
How long we keep it and how we protect it
We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires, then we delete or anonymize it. We use reasonable safeguards to protect it, but no online system is completely secure.
Your choices
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or withdraw your consent. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and manage ad preferences in your Meta and Google account settings.
